Bidazzled

I just came across a really novel and cool site called Bidazzled which was launched in early November. This is basically an auction site, but it comes with big differences. It is redefining the online auction market by offering savings of up to 90% on name brand merchandise, that too all while funding a lung cancer charity (The Ruch Foundation: www.ruchfoundation.com ).

The site employs a concept commonly known as Penny Auctions or Pay-Per-Bid auctions. What this means is that bids are purchased in advance and then used to bid on merchandise. The price keeps going up by a few cents with each bid placed and a few seconds are added to the countdown clock so that the other bidders get a chance to bid as well.

Some of the salient features which I like about this particular auction site are that auction winners usually save over 80% off retail, nobody actually loses (because even if you don't win, you receive up to 50 Bonus Bids as a thank you for participating), and you can purchase the auction item less the investment you had in the auction. What is really interesting is that if you win, Bidazzled typically makes an offer to buy the item back for either cash (paypal or check), cash and bids, or bids.
