Traffic is the fuel that powers a blog

As stated in my previous post, a blog needs traffic to survive and thrive. Traffic is the fuel that powers a blog. Increasing traffic to your site is not easy, but it’s not difficult either.

Search engines are the best source of traffic. To utilize them to the fullest, you need to create search engine friendly pages with proper meta tags. That is, your pages need to be “Search engine optimized” and also indexed by search engines like Google.

If you create a subscription box on your website, your visitors can subscribe to your posts via email or RSS feeds. Utilize the services of newsletter providers who can allow you to send periodical news letters to your regular visitors.

Make use of social networking and bookmarking sites like Digg, StumbleUpon, etc. Use forums to build your web presence and also post information about your website. Make sure to use your signatures at the end of your forum posts. Attaching email signatures to your emails can boost your traffic too.

Keep visiting and commenting on different blogs which are related to your blog. Also remember to reply to the comments on your blog, so that you can create a direct relationship with your visitors.

Write interesting and unique content. Your posts should be clear, interesting and explanatory so that your visitors are forced to visit your blog often and read the latest posts.

Update your blog regularly. Publish at least four or five new posts every week so that whenever a visitor comes to your website or blog, they find something new. Finally, if you can afford it, take advantage of advertising programs like Google Adwords.
