How to generate free traffic for your website

A vast number of methods exist to generate traffic for your site, but for most of you who are new in the game, you might not be able to afford methods which cost you money. However, getting traffic to your site is a necessity if you want to make money online. Well, the good news is that you need not spend a single penny. That said, you DO need a willingness to put in time and effort. You also require patience, motivation, and a drive to put in hard work and research to generate more traffic for your site.

Here are a few ways you can go about generating free traffic for your site:

• Take part in discussions in online forums and online communities. An advantage to doing this is the fact that you can target a certain group that fits the certain demographics that you are targetting in your site. You can introduce yourself as an expert in the particular niche that you represent or offer. This way you will also be building trust and a fine reputation for your website or company. It's a great opportunity to display your mettle and impress them with your knowledge in your area of expertise.
• Take help of newsletters. With newsletters, you can showcase your products and include interesting articles as well. The more interetsing and entertaining you make it, the more people will sign up for your newsletter and recommend it to others as well. And, of course, the more people who sign up for your newsletter, the more people there will be that will go to your site, thereby increasing your traffic.
• Link trading. Another great traffic generating technique which doesn't cost you a penny. All the traffic visiting one site could potentially click on the link of your site and visit your site as well. You just need to find other webmasters who agree to exchange links with you -- this will benefit both sites, and more so when both belong to the same niche.
• Write informative articles relating to your niche. Articles that provide in-depth knowledge and tips to your audience will keep them interested and coming back for more. This will, in turn, provide a push to your traffic flow.
• You can also submit your articles to other websites that offer free submission and posting facilities. Include a link or a brief description of your company with the article. If others come across your articles and read them, there's a good chance they'll follow the link back to your site and visit it.
